Boasting mountain views, Hacho no Yu features accommodation with a spa and wellness centre, free bikes and a garden, around 43 km from Kegon Falls. They gave us japanese clothes (yukata) to walk around with in the hotel. The futons were super comfortable. We went during the week and there were not so many people, most of the time when we went to onsen we were the only people there as if it was a private one. The onsens were cleaned every day. We paid for the expensive dinner (according to their website) and it was totally worth it. The food amount was also enough and had a good diversity. Staff was very polite and responsive. Moreover, we had a balcony in the room where we could smoke cigarettes. If you plan to shower outside the onsen baths you might freeze to death on the way back to the room from the public bath. (In May). Getting to the hotel from Tokyo was also straight forward but it took some time.

Situated in Nikko, KINUGAWA KEISUI offers 4-star accommodation with a garden and a shared lounge. The facilities are super awesome, with free laundry, free minibar (even with alcohol!) provided. Female & Male public bath did interchange each other for evening and morning session, so we can enjoy both facilities. They even have massage chairs in the public bath area for free. Sadly if there is chance to purchase milk/ yogurt after onsen, it will be perfect! The breakfast and dinner are nice too. Breakfast is semi-buffet with quite a lot of salad & drink provided. When we mentioned one of us has certain food allergy, the manager checked in details to ensure everything is alright.

Located just 2.5 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Morinouta offers accommodation in Nikko with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as luggage storage space. The mother and son that run the place are so kind. Each day before I set out for my hikes the proprietor handed me a bag of snacks. There is also two wonderful private onsens that were free each time I sought to use them. Lovely place.

Set in Nakagawa and only 10 km from Nakagawa Aquatic Park, Iizukatei offers accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. The staff made our stay so special in this traditional home. They have modernised the interior without losing the traditional aesthetic. We will stay here again.

Set in Nikko, 36 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine and 38 km from Tobu Nikko Station, Minshuku Fukufuji offers a bar and air conditioning. A hot spring bath is available for guests. The food was so good and served in such an extraordinary way. Like we've never experienced. Incredible! Thank you so much.

Situated next to Lake Chuzenji, Hatago Nagomi is renovated in August 2017. The hotel features a restaurant, bar and free WiFi throughout the property. Free private parking is available on site. Very nice onsen inside hotel…try it twice altough we only stay for one night Lovely and delicious breakfast Owner is very attentive…he greeted us when we miss the hotel and let us sit near the heater in the cold night and help us to bring the luggages by himself Upgrade the room with a great room with massage chair inside the room…it is so wonderful Amazing lake view…. Also near wonderful kegon waterfall and shrine

Kyukamura Nikko-Yumoto, a property with an open-air bath, is situated in Nikko, 14 km from Kegon Falls, 29 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, as well as 30 km from Tobu Nikko Station. location is absolutely amazing, super nice staff, there is even a kids playroom with tous and books
