It is also fairly close to other main attractions like Puerta de Alcalá and Parque del Retiro (22 minutes walk). The place was very clean. The room didn't had shelfs or a place to lay things for a while but lockers were pretty big (but no need of big paddloks)

The flea market was an experience, Calle Cava Baja for the tapas bars and cocktail bars was excellent, the Grad Via for shopping, Mercado de San Miguel for sampling the extraordinary cuisine...

North to Plaza Mayor street you'll find very good and fancy restaurants
Don't go to any of the "eat as much as you can". It was the only tourist trap we encountered. North to Plaza Mayor street you'll find very good and fancy restaurants. South to this street you will find great othentic Spanish and south American restaurants and a little bit further you'll find real othentic and very good chinese restaurants.
